After a hectic transfer window and a tight start to the season for all the top teams involved, we were unfortunately all slapped with an international break.

Nightmares of injuries to our top players aside, there was only one thing we at the Spot Kick could possibly have on our minds once the transfer deadline day hangover had worn off. It’s that almighty time in which we pass on judgement and make bold claims and predictions about all the top clubs in the Premier League.

The Top Three Reasons Why Chelsea Are Struggling

Over the course of their last few games Chelsea have been a disappointment on the pitch. After all, two draws and two losses from their last four games isn’t the kind of record you’d expect from title challengers, and this vein of form removes the team considerably from the quality they showed earlier in the season where pundits all over were going on about “the English Barcelona”.

I was never foolish enough to make such a defiant claim after only a few matches, and those who did are probably kicking themselves and hoping no one goes back to see their inane generalisations. That’s not to say I didn’t think Chelsea were playing excellently. They most certainly were.

In fact, I was afraid they were just going to run away with it. Thankfully, this isn’t La Liga, and no team is running away with anything (or so say the underdog teams of West Brom and Norwich).

But what has happened? Are these new problems? Or have they been there from the start?
